Thanks for stopping by. The following is a sample letter that you can use to invite individuals onto your CORE team. Remember though, this letter should be followed up by an in-person conversation.

If you want to use it then you can download a copy HERE.

Dear ___________,

Hope this finds you doing well. For some time, my prayer has been that ______ Church would become a disciple-making culture. Specifically, that we would become a movement of disciple makers who make other disciple makers. In order for this to happen, it is necessary to first develop a CORE Team of disciple makers.

Over the past few months, we have been praying about who to invite to this team and your name came to mind. I want to personally invite you on this journey of disciple-making with me as part of the CORE Team of disciple makers.

The purpose of the CORE Team is two-fold. First, we want to deepen our commitment as disciples and become disciple makers. Second, we want to become a team who will care and support one another. As we do this, we trust that God will use us to influence the broader culture at _______ Church. It’s just like what Paul and his team did in 1 Thessalonians!

Here are the details:

1.     We will meet every-other week for 90 minutes for about a year. At this time, we are planning on Monday evenings from 6:30-8:00.  Our target start date is Monday, September 14.

2.     We will be going through a book called “The Ways of the Alongsider.”

3.     In time, we will ask that you will begin discipling someone. Don’t let this scare you. We will give you the training and support that you will need.

4.     We will be asking that you make this a priority. It’s possible you’d need to step out of something in order to step into this.

Would you pray about being part of this team?

Recently, the person that has been discipling me told me that there is a difference between groups and teams. He stated: “A group is about what I can get out of it. It requires no commitment from me other than my participation when convenient. However, a team is not about me, it is about a purpose that is bigger than myself.” To be on a team means that you are willing to be counted on and to join others who are willing to be counted on. Together the CORE Team will trust God to do something together that they couldn’t do on their own.

I will be follow up with you in person or with a phone call in a few days.

Thanks,
